Italian writer and journalist of Somali ancestry, she published her debut novel in 2003 and works with several national publications, primarily on migration and African cultures and literatures. Her novels include La mia casa è dove sono, which received the Mondello prize in 2011, and La linea del colore, which won the Naples prize in 2020. Cassandra a Mogadiscio, her most recent book, has been nominated for the Strega Prize in 2023.
