annie proulx
Born in Connecticut, having lived for a long time in Vermont, she now makes her home between Wyoming and Newfoundland. She is one of the most interesting and acute American writers, and from each and every one of her pages the finesse of psychological introspection jumps out of the page, as well as the pleasure of the storytelling. Two of her novels, set in the places in which she resides today have become successful films: The Shipping News (for which she received the Pulitzer Prize), directed by Lasse Hallstrom, and Brokeback Mountain by Ang Lee.
